Medicare provides a significant help towards your session costs; however, it is not intended to cover the whole cost. Medicare provides a rebate for mental health disorders when you or your child is referred by a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician and can obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan through the Better Access Initiative. A maximum of 10 sessions is claimable per calendar year. The current Medicare rebate amount with a MHTP for a consultation 50-minutes+ is $141.65 for a clinically registered psychologist.
